Proposal to Enforce Minimum Price for Alcohol

Post by mongoman » Mon Mar 16, 2009 10:24 pm

Just interested to know what everybody thinks about the proposition in the UK to create a minimum price for alcohol.

At the moment, I think the idea, supported largely in the Scottish government, is to place alcohol sales at a minimum price of 50 pence per unit.

This would mean the average can of beer could cost no less than £1.

1.00 GBP = 1.13 EUR

Really? Why? I mean, i know there's a problem with drinking in Britain, and especially in Scotland, but isn't that a bit authoritarian?
