Who are the real Iraqi Terrorists?

Post by jafar00 » Tue Feb 06, 2007 8:44 am

It seems the British (and the Americans) caught shooting at Iraqi police while driving a car filled with explosives a while back was not a "one off". It's British tactics when dealing with terrorists like they did with the IRA.

This is an interesting read.

There are some very dirty aspects of war. Seems like the coalition forces are desperate to try and keep the peace so that this can be brought to an end; just like the IRA troubles.

I remember seeing footage of John Major being questioned by parliament of whether he was talking to IRA terrorists. He made a fool of the them and said that the government would never talk to terrorists. 12 years later he admitted the government was so desperate for peace they would do anything. He said to the cameraman he woulod have talked with the devil if he could have got peace. This is Iraq, morality disappears. It proves to me just how desperate they are to get out of Iraq.

Well, if the Iraqi police weren't in cahoots with the insurgents and helping them every chance they get. Maybe the police wouldn't come across as aiding the enemy. Many an American patrol has been lead into an ambush by Iraqi police. It was pretty clear cut that they were siding the insurgents when they turned on the American soldiers. Five American soldiers were just killed when Iraqi police allowed insurgents to pass through a check point w/o being challenged. It seems as though betrayal is a common thing with Iraqis. Then they wonder why they're not trusted.

All coalition troops I've ever asked, and any writings by troops I've ever read, distrust the Iraqi police. They simply aren't trustworthy, particularly when they try to make life easy for the insurgency. The troops did the right thing.

The police and even the army are made up of anti-westerners and US-haters.

How dare you, I hear the challenge come! Well, Saddam for decades imprinted into the minds of all those young men what he thought of the west and especially the US. Those people don't know any different and I wouldn't expect them to. When the coalition invaded, in their own simple wisdom, they probably thought all what Saddam said was true. I bet most of the police and army hate the US for that reason and, while it is no excuse, I don't blame them entirely for it. Do you think you would be any different?

Of course not. I actually agree that Saddam implanted anti-western thinking tirelessly during his reign. The police were certainly not immune. We reap the results now, and the US is blamed for it.

The U.S. is blamed for anything bad all around the world. It used to bother me. Now I just think, so what! I expect us to be the bad guys in any story. :sign0089: :sign0089:

The Anti-Western thinking came more from western actions than what Saddam said. It makes sense if you constantly bomb and make war on someone, it's bound to cause a little resentment right?
Then there is this thing with western agents setting up the car bombs and assassinations disguised as Arabs. Using terrorism to fuel a civil war is a despicable action and should be condemned.

I have not seen one report on your accusations and as you always say to us, where's your proof? Or is this nothing more that more propaganda?
