Server hardware upgrade..

Post by appleton » Fri Jan 19, 2007 3:40 pm

You may have noticed the server has been running under high load lately. Leading to lots of 500 internal server errors.

The current CPU set-up
Processor #1 Vendor: GenuineIntel
Processor #1 Name: Intel(R) Pentium(R) D CPU 3.00GHz
Processor #1 speed: 2993.338 MHz
Processor #1 cache size: 1024 KB

Processor #2 Vendor: GenuineIntel
Processor #2 Name: Intel(R) Pentium(R) D CPU 3.00GHz
Processor #2 speed: 2993.338 MHz
Processor #2 cache size: 1024 KB
Is going to be dumped for a new dual-core dual CPU woodcrest system. The new hardware will be at the datacentre in about 1-2 weeks. The new system will be fitted by the datacentre technicians resulting in a downtime of around 10mins.

This thread will be updated when the hardware arrives and is ready to be fitted :)

Cheers

Update:

The new server will run the new Intel dual-core dual xeon "woodcrest" CPU's and located in the BlueSquare datacenter. The migration from the old datacenter is to start on Monday 2/12/07. All data will be synced in about 3-5 day's.

More updates will follow as things progress here in this thread.

The new hardware..
Processor #1 Vendor: GenuineIntel
Processor #1 Name: Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU 5130 @ 2.00GHz
Processor #1 speed: 1995.147 MHz
Processor #1 cache size: 4096 KB

Processor #2 Vendor: GenuineIntel
Processor #2 Name: Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU 5130 @ 2.00GHz
Processor #2 speed: 1995.147 MHz
Processor #2 cache size: 4096 KB

Processor #3 Vendor: GenuineIntel
Processor #3 Name: Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU 5130 @ 2.00GHz
Processor #3 speed: 1995.147 MHz
Processor #3 cache size: 4096 KB

Processor #4 Vendor: GenuineIntel
Processor #4 Name: Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU 5130 @ 2.00GHz
Processor #4 speed: 1995.147 MHz
Processor #4 cache size: 4096 KB
Complete. I am not sure many people realised :)

The server loads have gone down which is a positive sign (less slowdowns for LPT!)

Thanks :)
